Lamp Design

This project explores the intersection of nature, design, and digital fabrication. Drawing inspiration from the form and anatomy of a mosquito, I began by studying and diagramming its structure to inform my design. Using Rhino, I translated these observations into a three-dimensional model, refining the design through multiple iterations. Through a combination of 3D printing, laser cutting, and other fabrication techniques, I brought the concept to life as a functional lamp capable of transforming between two distinct forms.

Designed in Rhino

3D printed rings served as the basis for this design. Interlocking elements were used to allow the top ring to fit around the cord and for the wooden "wings" to be slipped over the second ring. These wings were laser cut out of plywood and stabilized using small c-shaped wooden pieces. All pieces were attached using fishing wire.
